One-time county resident shot in the line of duty in Atlanta

A one-time Newton County resident, Mark Edge, an officer with the State Capital Police, was injured in the line of duty Wednesday.

The 28-year-old reportedly came to the aid of a Georgia State Patrol officer who was responding to the call of a stolen motorcycle Wednesday afternoon. Gunfire was exchanged and Edge was grazed by in the head by a bullet. Edge was released from the hospital the next day.
