Some 150 photographers will take aim at Oxford Saturday for a North Georgia Camera Club Council "shootout’’ competition, said Mayor Jerry Roseberry.  In the event, hosted this year by the Georgia Nature Photographers Association, the photographers will be given specific subject areas and will fan out around Oxford to capture images. Judging will be the same day, Roseberry said.

Arrests doubled

According to statistics provided by Oxford on its website, arrests in the month of September were doubled from the same month in 2012.

Oxford reported 16 arrests last month, and eight 12 months earlier.

The city also issued more citations — 158 compared, to 68 the year before — than September 2012.

Police calls were down from the previous year, 288, compared to 302 in 2012.
