COVINGTON, Ga. — The season’s first snowfall could come to Newton County later this week.
Snow is likely Friday afternoon, a forecast issued by the National Weather Service for Newton County said Wednesday.
Highs Friday should be about 40 degrees, with lows overnight dipping into the upper 20s.
The weather service in Peachtree City said much colder air is expected to have an impact on north and middle Georgia between Thursday and Tuesday. Snow is possible Friday and Saturday, especially during the overnight hours.
The greatest chance of snow is in far north Georgia.
Although there is a chance of snow, no accumulations are expected. With cold air rushing into the area on Friday there's a good chance we'll see a transition from rain to snow. It's still unknown what the exact accumulations will be & where the highest amounts will fall, but regardless please prepare for wet and freezing conditions Friday night. pic.twitter.com/LVUyBUA70k
