Newton County residents will have a chance to meet their next Chair of the Board of Commissioners Thursday, Dec. 8.

Marcello Banes will be at the Lindsey Firm, 1182 Washington Street, SW, Covington from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. to allow people to get to know the newly-elected chair in an informal setting.

Stephanie Lindsey, of the Lindsey Firm, said citizens will get the opportunity to talk with him, express concerns for the community, and even say a prayer over the Springfield Baptist Church minister as he gets ready to lead the county.

“We’re about to start a new year and a new chapter,” Lindsey said. “This chapter will include Marcello, as well as two new commissioners who are going to change Newton County. With all the issues we have had recently I think everyone can agree we want a positive change — a redirection.”
