A man who reportedly asked a woman to have relations with him at a hotel was arrested for reportedly assaulting the woman when she refused to do so.
A report from the Covington Police Department said officers responded to a room at the Days Inn on Alcovy Road just before 4 a.m. Monday, in reference to a 9-1-1 hang-up call, during which dispatchers reportedly heard a man and a woman arguing.
When officers arrived, they heard the man, later identified as Bobby Hardeman, yelling. When officers knocked on the door, no one answered and the room reportedly became quiet.
Officers requested a key card from the front desk and opened the door. Inside the room, they found Hardeman lying on his side halfway on the bed and a woman who appeared to be upset and crying.
When asked what was going on, she reportedly replied, "nothing," and Hardeman said that they had not been fighting or arguing. The woman reportedly then told police that Hardeman had given her a ride to the hotel and came into her room. She said Hardeman asked to have sex with her, but she said she did not want to and that’s when Hardeman became aggressive. The woman said Hardeman grabbed her on her shoulder and neck and pushed her toward the bed.
According to the report, the woman had scratches on her shoulders near the base of her neck and blood on her bottom lip.
Hardeman reportedly later told officers that he did get a little physical, but it was nothing bad. Hardeman was arrested and charged with simple battery and hindering a 9-1-1 call.
