Covington resident Travis Glenn Lynch, 21, lost control of his 1986 Corvette while rounding a curve on Gum Creek Road near Dial Mill Road Saturday at 3:55 p.m., eventually going airborne, returning to the ground and striking a tree.
"The vehicle crossed the centerline, came back into the lane, the right wheels left the road on the right side, then the vehicle crossed both lanes of the road, left the road on the west side, became airborne, landed on its wheels, and then struck a tree. Lynch was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center. He was charged with failing to maintain lane," said Georgia State Patrol spokesperson Gordy Wright.
There was a small car fire which was extinguished on scene. The man suffered lacerations to the face and was unable to feel his legs, according to the Newton County Fire Department.
Alcohol was not involved, Wright said.
