The American Legion, the American Legion Riders, Son of the American Legion and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary hosted presented Pete Mecca, The Covington News and The Rockdale News with certificates of appreciation at a breakfast held at The Remington House in Conyers Tuesday morning.

The American Legion Post 77 commander, the district commander and representatives from the state American Legion honored Mecca for his Veteran’s Story columns, which run in both newspapers spreading the history of veterans throughout the two counties. The Covington and Rockdale News Publisher T. Pat Cavanaugh, News Editor Michelle Kim and The Covington News Editor Bryan Fazio were also presented with multiple certificates from the distinguished legion officers, surrounded by dozens of the area’s veterans.
