Human remains were found on Creekside Lane in Covington Thursday evening, according to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 8 p.m., hunters discovered the remains on private property while preparing for hunting season, said the NCSO. Newton County Coroner Tommy Davis, NCSO Patrol and the Crime Scene and Criminal Investigation Division all responded to the scene.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Anthropologist is currently investigating the remains. More information will be released once it becomes available.
