Former Newton County Chamber of Commerce President Kip Purvis died suddenly Sunday at his home from a heart attack.  Kip was a member of GEDA and had been the director of the Meriwether County Development Authority for the past ten years.  Kip was the President of the Covington/Newton County Chamber of Commerce in the mid-late 1990s. 

Visitation will be this Wednesday, Feb.24 from 6-8 p.m. at the Cox Funeral Home in Manchester and the service will be Thursday, Feb. 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Manchester.  You may call the Funeral Home at 706 846-3110.

He is survived by his wife, Michele, and daughter, Lindsey.
