The man authorities say are responsible for the wreck that killed an Oxford man last week has been formally charged with homicide by vehicle.

Donald Paul Kahle, 69, was charged on Nov. 12 with second degree vehicular homicide and failure to yield. He is accused of causing the accident that killed 39-year-old Terrance Michael Collins of Oxford.

According to Georgia State Patrol Spokesman Gordy Wright, Kahle was driving a 2005 Dodge pickup truck heading west on Stone Road and attempted to make a left turn into the recycling center when he was hit in the rear quarter-panel by Collins’ Harley Davidson, which was heading east at the time. Kahle was uninjured, but Collins was thrown from his motorcycle, according to Wright.

Kahle was booked into the Newton County Detention Center and bonded out the same day on a $3,500 property bond.
