A woman whose vehicle had been vandalized on previous occasions finally became fed up enough to contact police Wednesday afternoon.

Officers from the Covington Police Department were called to the Wellington Ridge apartments where they met with the victim.

She told them that several months earlier her red 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt had been keyed on the driver’s side door.

She told the apartment’s management who urged her to make a report and she allegedly refused.

A couple of months later, she found scratched all the way down her driver’s side door, the words “I love you.”

She again brought it to the attention of management who, according to reports, urged her again to make a report with police.

She once again refused to do so.

Wednesday, she went inside her apartment and when she came back out, her car had feces rubbed on the windshield and door handles on the driver’s side.

The women reportedly told police she had no idea who was doing it, but that “she was tired of it” and finally wanted to document the damage with a report.

No good deed goes unpunished
Officers were called to the Covington Lodge Sunday night after other occupants reported a fight between a man and a woman in the back stairwell.

When officers arrived, they spoke with “an intoxicated male,” identified as Christopher Mobley, as well as another man involved in the fight, Stanley Turk, Turk’s girlfriend Ellen Knox and Mobley’s estranged wife Maria Mobley.

Christopher Mobley had a bloody lip and Turk had a small cut on his forearm, according to reports.

Knox allegedly told officers that it all started when they heard “a commotion” from Maria Mobley’s room which is above the room she and Turk were staying in.

They then heard what sounded like banging on the room next door, and when they opened their door, she told officers they saw Christopher Mobley punching the door of that room and trying to get in.

She reportedly told officers that she asked Christopher Mobley what was going on, at which point she said he began screaming, “You want some of this?!”

Knox went back inside her room and called 911, and then told officers she heard a woman screaming for help from the room next door.

According to reports, Knox told police she went back outside and saw Christopher Mobley throw Maria Mobley to the ground on the second stairwell landing and then raise his fist as if he was going to hit her. She said that’s when Turk “grabbed a bat and went to the stairwell to intervene.”

Police indicate that Turk told them “he felt Maria Mobley was in danger and he felt it necessary to intervene,” and when he approached Christopher Mobley, that’s when a fight began between the two of them.

When police questioned Maria Mobley, she reportedly said she didn’t know why her estranged husband and Knox were fighting and denied that Christopher Mobley had been physical with her.

When officers questioned why Knox and Turk would say they saw her thrown to the ground, she reportedly said that “she slipped and fell.”

Knox said that she and Maria Mobley were friends and that Maria Mobley had confided in her several times that she was afraid of Christopher Mobley and that he frequently “bullies and steals money from her.”

Mobley was arrested and transported to the Newton County Jail where he was issued citations for public intoxication, disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.
