Florida media are reporting that Covington man Tracy Andrew Isbell, 26, was arrested Wednesday night for a hit-and-run in Jacksonville, Fla. that left a local man seriously injured.
WJXT- Channel 4 in Jacksonville reported local authorities as saying Isbell will likely face charges of felony hit-and-run, possession and resisting arrest.
The story was a little out of the ordinary, as Isbell allegedly continued to drive without stopping after hitting the Florida man, 30-year-old Joseph Bastain, but local John Avery, 44, saw the incident take place and followed Isbell.
Isbell pulled into a parking lot after realizing he had flat tires from previously jumping the curb and running over a yield sign and Bastain. Isbell then got of his truck and attempted to flee, but Avery pulled out his gun and ordered the man to stop and Avery and his passenger, Gary Gibson, 50, managed to physically constrain Isbell until police arrived, according to The Florida Times-Union newspaper.
Isbell then resisted arrest, and officers told Channel 4 that he appeared to be “extremely intoxicated.”
The Associated Press is reporting that Isbell was released from jail Thursday; Bastain is expected to survive.
