COVINGTON, Ga. — Newton County could see a chance of snow and temperatures are expected to drop over the next day.
A winter weather advisory has been issued, from 5 p.m. Tuesday until 7 a.m. Wednesday. Hazardous travel conditions from snow or ice on the roads and blowing snow is a threat, as are dangerous wind chills.
The National Weather Service said about 0.3 inches of snow is possible in the Covington area.
Clouds are expected to begin rolling in Tuesday afternoon, and a slight chance of rain is possible before 8 p.m. Then the precipitation should begin changing to snow. Lows overnight should dip into the upper teens.
Wind chill values could be around 10.
Wednesday, expect windy conditions with lower temperatures than Tuesday. Highs are only expected to reach the upper 30s. Northwest winds will be 10-20 mph with gusts of up to 30 mph possible. Wind chill values will be only in the single digits.
The low Wednesday night into Thursday will be about 19 degrees.
Expect a slight rebound into the 40s Thursday with a sunny sky.
