COVINGTON, Ga. — Gabriel White, who served as a transporter for the Newton County coroner's office, announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Newton County coroner Tuesday morning, Nov. 19.

White was born and raised in Covington, specifically in the Springhill community, and felt "proud" to call the community home. So proud, in fact, that he is raising his son in his hometown.

With deep roots within the community, White stated "he was aware of the needs of the community, the resources available and [was] aware of the public concerns that face [the] community."

White has more than 10 years of experience in the death care industry. He is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in business administration, with a specialization in human resources, at American InterContinental University.

As coroner, White said he will commit to serve and advocate for Newton County citizens.

"If elected, I will bring transparency to the coroner's office and develop the infrastructure to establish grief counseling for OneNewton Family," he said. "With respect, grace and humility, I pledge to help the citizens of Newton County by promising to hold all stakeholders accountable to the commitments established and follow-up for all initiatives."
