SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. — Both lanes of Interstate 20 were blocked Tuesday after a tire blew out on a car, causing it to roll over on the highway.
State troopers said the westbound vehicle had a blowout on a rear tire, causing the driver to lose control, strike the guardrail and overturn.
It happened at 2:12 p.m., about 2 miles east of the Stanton Springs Parkway exit.
Westbound lanes were shut down until 2:27 p.m., and there was a partial lane closure on eastbound I-20 until 2:30 to make way for a response by fire crews.
The passenger was trapped and had to be extricated, troopers said. The passenger, who was not identified, was airlifted to WellStar Atlanta Medical Center.
