COVINGTON, Ga. - Paving continues this week on Georgia 212 in Newton County.

The Georgia Department of Transportation said the ongoing double surface treatment project continued Thursday near the intersection with Georgia 162, southwest of Covington.

GDOT plans call for paving the intersection Thursday and going 1 mile beyond it Friday.

That would leave 3.5 miles of resurfacing work left to do next week with plans to have it done by Wednesday. The forecast of rain associated with a possible Gulf Coast landfall of Tropical Storm Nate could hamper those plans, however.
