Highest honor: Jeff Greenich of Scout Troop 748, chartered by Prospect United Methodist Church, receives the District Award of Merit at the Yellow River District of Boy Scouts of America Annual Banquet. The Award of Merit is the highest award a local district can present to a scouter. The Yellow River District includes Newton and Rockdale Counties. In 42 scouting units 338 adult volunteer leaders provide scouting programs to 1,351 young people through Cub Scouts for boys in first through fifth grades, Boy Scouts for boys in middle and high school, and the Venturing Program for young men and women ages 14 to 21.
