On Tuesday, a California resident who owns a property on Kirkland Road told deputies that an air conditioning unit had been cut from the wall.
Maintenance workers told deputies that the incident had apparently occurred within the last two months.
Three additional incidents of air conditioner theft were reported on Wednesday.
A property owner on Cedar Ridge Drive reported that a unit had been stolen from the outside of an apartment he owned sometime during the weekend of Sept. 24-26.
The same owner also reported a unit was stolen from another apartment he owned on Colony Drive. He stated that the incident had allegedly occurred between midnight and 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Covington police reported that an owner of two homes on Carroll Street reported that at some time between 7:30 p.m. on Monday and 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday that the air conditioners were taken from each home.
According to reports, the stolen units are estimated to weigh two-tons each, and are valued at $3,000 to $4,500.
A neighbor of the Carroll Street homes stated that he had seen a newer-model black and gray Chevrolet truck parked behind one of the two homes. He stated that the truck had a black trailer attached, with a car loaded onto the trailer. The neighbor alleged that two suspects were breaking the windows out of the car, and that the truck and trailer had duct tape covering their license plates. The neighbor stated he did not recognize the suspects, and that they fled when they saw him.
