Jeanne Evans, 67, of Covington, died Dec. 13 at Abbey Hospice. She was a member of Julia A. Porter United Methodist church, loved sewing and crafts and was an avid reader. Mrs. Evans was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by parents James Lewis Alexander Sr., and Inez Kitchens Norton and great-granddaughter Angelina Snow.
Surviving are husband Jerry Evans of Covington; daughters and son-in-law Bella Gant of Commerce, Bobbie and Chris Oliver of Los Angeles; sons and daughter-in-law Eddie and Kelly Hayes of Wiggins, Miss., Gerald Hayes and Ron Hayes, both of Covington; grandchildren Jennifer Snow, Michelle Harlan, Matthew Hayes, Shawn Hayes, Stephen Hembree, Brandie Grant, Chace Hayes; great-granchildren Chace Harlan, Tyler Hughes; sister Meri Digby of Porterdale; brothers and sisters-in-law Jim and Lana Alexander of Conyers, Charlie and Debra Alexander of Social Circle, Bill and Gayle Norton of Covington.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Dec. 15 at Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church with the Rev. James A. Moore and the Rev. John Ozley officiating.
