Gobble! Gobble! Gobble!
It’s that time of the year again – time to celebrate the four F’s again all in one day – family, friends, food and football.
Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks for all that you have, and be surrounded by all of your loved ones.
However, in many American homes it’s also a day to celebrate a quarterback getting sacked by a big defensive lineman, while you are eating a slice of pie.
No matter whether you enjoy your wonderful dinner of turkey, stuffing and yams during the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers 12:30 p.m. game, or the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys 4:30 p.m. contest, football will more than likely still be a part of your festivities. Is there really anything better than tackling a turkey leg in the kitchen while watching NFL defenses laying tackles all over the field?
Even after your extended family has departed, there will be more football to watch. After heating up another nice plate of Thanksgiving leftovers, you can enjoy a hard-hitting rivalry game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and
Baltimore Ravens at 8:30 p.m.
So after a day of giving thanks and celebrating a day of football, you can go to sleep peacefully and get ready for the next day, one filled with more action on the gridiron.
There’s one difference between football on Black Friday, though.
Instead of watching the high-paid professionals, you can watch the amateurs. After you’ve decided to microwave some leftovers from the previous day's feast, you can sit down and watch hard-hitting SEC action between the Arkansas Razorbacks and the LSU Tigers.
This Saturday there is truly a “can’t miss” SEC showdown at 3:30. The nation’s No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide will travel just a few miles down the road to take on their in-state rival, the No. 4 Auburn Tigers, in what should truly be a thriller.
So remember to give thanks and stuff your bellies this week, but also remember this week wouldn’t be complete without the action on the gridiron.
