The Social Circle High School Wrestling team started its season off by winning the Parkview Thanksgiving Duals tournament last Wednesday with a perfect 5-0 record. The tourney hosted by Parkview High School had 12 schools participating in the highly touted event (Alexander, Brookwood, Duluth, East Coweta, Habersham Central, Hiram, Luella, Parkview, Peachtree Ridge, Social Circle, Union Grove and West Oak, S.C.).

The Redskins the only 2-AA team in the event won their pool which consisted of Brookwood (6-AAAAAA), Duluth (6-AAAAAA) and Hiram (5-AAAAA). SCHS dominated its pool by winning 76-3 over Duluth, 72-12 against Hiram and 52-24 vs. Brookwood. Union Grove and Alexander both won its pools to face Social Circle in the finals.

Social Circle had solid victories over Union Grove 57-18 and Alexander 52-10 both 5-AAAAA teams to win the tournament.
Coach Randy Prater said, “I was very impressed at how our team came out and competed in this tournament. These were all big time schools with big programs. All were 5 and 6-A teams. This was the third year we started off our season in this event. I was glad we got the win.”

Prater was impressed at how his freshman competed at this event with Kyle Morris (106) and Tommy Morgan (113) both finishing 5-0 for the day. Micah Thompson (145) was 3-1. A.J. Garcia and Carson Boyd were the other freshman who saw some mat time at the event. Prater was able to utilize over 20 grapplers during the event which tells you what kind of depth the Social Circle team has in their line- up.
