BREMEN, Ga. — The Lady Redskins 2025 campaign came to a close in the Final Four with a 0-4 loss to the Bremen Lady Blue Devils on Thursday.
In what was a rematch between two of Class A’s best, the Lady Blue Devils won again as they managed to halt Social Circle’s attacks.
The two teams played in early April, with Bremen securing a 4-1 win at Redskins Stadium. Going into Thursday with a chance to make it to the title game, head coach Heather Richardson knew it would be another tough test.
“I expected to play a really strong team, which is what we faced up against,” Richardson said. “We never gave up and that's all I can ask for. They played hard and did what they were asked to do. They played with all their heart like they normally do.”
Social Circle had chances on the offensive end, but the Bremen back line seemed to stop the attacks at the right moment time and time again on Thursday.
This allowed for the Lady Blue Devils to be on the attack for a large portion of the match.
Social Circle’s Gentrie Mobley was tested early in goal, but the Lady Redskins’ keeper made a pair of strong saves early in the contest.
Nineteen minutes in, a promising run from Bremen was shut down before Mobley could get there on a strong defensive play from Kambrie Morrow.
However, the Lady Blue Devils found the back of the net with 15 minutes left in the opening half.
After a quality clearance, Bremen’s attackers went on a long run to beat out Morrow before shooting across the keeper for the goal.
Four minutes later, Bremen added on.
With a crowded box, Dalanie Sheats took a shot from close range that tipped off Mobley’s hands and banged off the crossbar before going into the net.
Sheats’ goal put the Lady Blue Devils ahead 2-0 at intermission.
The Lady Redskins moved multiple players around throughout the match and into the second half, but Bremen’s defenders kept Social Circle off the scoreboard for the entirety of the Final Four match.
Late in the second half, a free kick from Bremen’s Bella Fields soared into the top right of the net and out of the reach of Mobley in goal.
Bremen added on its last goal of the match on a late shot from Riley Foster to put the final touches on the win.
Another deep playoff run for Richardson and the Lady Redskins
Although the Lady Redskins fell just shy of reaching their third state title in four years, it proved to be another strong season for Richardson and the girls soccer team.
The team finished with a 16-6 record and won their fourth straight region title with a 9-1 finish in Region 4A-Division I.
Richardson’s senior group — Faith Young, Alana Ferguson and Claire Ray — reached the Final Four at minimum each of their four seasons on the team. This included a state title in 2022.
With the trio of seniors now on the way out, Richardson shared just how big their four-year stretch was.
“It is so special,” Richardson said. “Of course they are extremely disappointed right now, but in a couple of days they will realize just what they have done and how far they have come.”
Coming out of last season, the Lady Redskins were in need of a new top scorer as Peyton Brooks had graduated. With the season down, it was fair to say Ferguson lived up to the billing.
Ferguson matched Brooks’ 57 goals from a season ago in what was her final season on the team. In Social Circle’s Sweet 16 win, Ferguson notched her 100th career goal.
Young ended her final season with 18 goals and a team-high 27 assists.
Junior Kara Taylor saw a more increased role all over the pitch in 2025, something Richardson was glad to see from a player who will seemingly play an even bigger role next year.
In the Lady Redskins’ 2-0 win over Dade County in the Elite Eight, Taylor accounted for both of the team’s goals.
“I think she[Taylor] does great, especially with the speed that she has,” Richardson said. “It just gives us more we can change and move around. I appreciate her willingness to go whenever I put her.”
With the departure of Ferguson, Young and Ray, Richardson and the Lady Redskins will enter next season with returners such Taylor, Morrow, Mobley, Taylor Bramlett and more.
