SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. — On Jan. 28, the Social Circle wrestling team had 10 wrestlers to earn first-place finishes at the traditional area meet. One of those individuals was senior Tucker Cleary who was declared area champion as well.
But, according to Cleary, claiming the championship wasn’t the best part of his senior wrestling season.
“The best part was being with the guys and working hard to get to the state championship,” Cleary said.
Cleary continued to say that he and his teammates have a special bond and are “like a family working toward the same goal.”
Wrestling isn’t the only sport Cleary participates in as a Redskin.
He’s played football as well as golf, but he said football is his passion.
In 2021, Cleary led the Redskins in total tackles with 117. His contributions the past few years has earned Cleary three offers to play college football.
Cleary plans to commit soon, too.
Even though his final college decision is unknown, what he wants to major in is set in stone.
“I want to earn a degree in chiropractic care,” Cleary said. “Being a chiropractor has been a dream of mine for a while now.”
His future plans tie-in with his favorite subject, biology along with the lab class he’s currently enrolled in at Social Circle.
For Cleary, though, the Redskins have prepared me beyond just academics and athletics. Cleary credits Social Circle to helping him in many facets of his life.
“The whole school has taught me how to connect with others,” Cleary said. “Overall the school has prepared me to be a better person after I graduate.”
