In a game billed as the Battle of Atlanta, filled with physical play, the Atlanta Silverbacks got a foul call inside the box and made the ensuing penalty kick count.

That was the difference in Atlanta's 3-2 victory over the Georgia Revolution in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at the Rockdale Youth Soccer Association Soccerplex Tuesday.

The Silverbacks, of the North American Soccer League, a second-tier professional division of U.S. Soccer, struck first, but the Revolution were there to answer.

Kwadwo Poku penetrated the Atlanta defense, before getting the ball out wide to Emeka Maduka who evened the score.

The host team, of the fourth-tier National Premier Soccer League kept going back and forth with the Silverbacks, who took the lead on a p.k., and entered the locker room ahead 2-1.

Twelve minutes into the second half, Atlanta moved the ball around Georgia's zone, finding Pablo Cruz open in the left-center of the field. Cruz zipped a shot from 20-25 yards out, which bent around Revolution goalkeeper Dennis Kramer.

Less than two minutes later, the Revolution answered with Maduka striking from inside the 18-yard box.

From there both teams had chances, but neither could find the net as Kramer and Silverbacks' keeperJoe Nasco came up with big saves.

The Silverbacks, who also beat the Revolution in the second round of the 2012 U.S. Open Cup, advance to play Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer.
