COVINGTON, Ga. — Both Eastside and Social Circle found favorable results in this past weekend’s area duals, earning them trips to the GHSA state duals wrestling tournament which begins Thursday January 17 in Macon. 


Eastside finished as the Area 4-AAAA runner-up Saturday at Woodward Academy. The Eagles defeated Luella in the semifinals, 40-36 with the dual coming down to the last match with Owen Lane pulling out a close decision to clinch the win. 


Eastside lost to Woodward in the area championships. 


Social Circle
The Social Circle Redskins claimed their fifth straight area duals championship Saturday, giving them a first round bye in this week's Class AA state duals tournament. -Submitted Photo


Meanwhile, Social Circle defeated Union County 70-12 in the semis and beat Elbert County 44-30 in the final to clinch its fifth straight Area 6-AA championship. 


Eastside draws Central Christian in the first round, while Social Circle draws a first round bye and will await to face the winner between Vidalia and Screven County on Friday January 18.
