Fresh off his best game as starter, Newton quarterback Gmatreian Brown leads the Rams into region play tomorrow when they take on Newnan at Sharp Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:30. The Rams defeated Northview last week to move to 3-0 for the second straight year. It was Newton's best offensive output so far. Brown completed 9 of 16 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown, Javonte Williams carried the ball 18 times for 166 yards and two scores and DeSean McKenzie hauled in five catches for 11 yards and a score. The Rams scored four rushing touchdowns in all. Newton defeated the Cougars in overtime last year thanks to a furious second-half rally. The Cougars meanwhile come into the game losers of their last two. The Rams have the second stingiest defense in Region 2-AAAAA. They're giving up eight points per game, second only to East Coweta.
