Newton High School’s football team got their first chance to practice in pads on Friday after spending much of the summer running practices in shorts and participating in seven-on-seven tournaments.

Coach Terrance Banks said that his team has a long way to go in the next three weeks. Banks added that it felt good to hear the pop of pads during practice, and that the kids were happy which is the most important thing.
