COVINGTON, Ga. — Spring is already in the air for Newton High School football.
Under the direction of new head coach Camiel Grant, Jr., the Newton Rams have wasted no time getting things set for the start of its spring football session which will kickoff almost exactly a month from today.

The first day of the 10-day spring drills sessions will be Monday April 29. From there, Newton will split its spring work in half, with a Blue & White intrasquad scrimmage game at Newton at 2 p.m. on Saturday May 4. After three more scheduled days of work, the annual Spring Game culmination will take place at 7 p.m. at Salem on Friday May 10.
Newton finished the 2018 season with a 4-7 mark and two consecutive losses — one, a 35-34 overtime defeat to rival Rockdale and then a 35-3 loss to West Forsyth in the first round of the Class AAAAAAA state playoffs.
