The Class AAAAAAA No. 2 Newton Rams (10-0, 2-0 in Region 8-AAAAAAA) will be in action Wednesday through Friday at the Farm Bureau Classic at Doman High school in Spartanburg, SC.

Newton tips off its three game stint there with a 4 p.m. matchup with Boiling Springs (7-2) of Spartanburg. All three of the Rams’ games will be streaming live online at www.thesuvtv.com. Newton senior sharpshooter Darvin Jones has already experienced some personal success in Spartanburg by winning the three point shooting contest Tuesday night. The replay of Jones’ interview can also be viewed at thesuvtv.com.

Something to watch: A potential marquee matchup could happen between Newton and Spartanburg Day School, depending on how the teams fair in these initial games. If the two schools meet, it’ll be clash between two of the best Class of 2019 players in the country in Spartanburg Day’s 6-foot-7 sensation Zion Williamson and Newton point guard Ashton Hagans.

We’ll have a full tournament round up in this Sunday’s print edition of The Covington News.
