Despite the wet weather Saturday morning, the Newton County Recreation Commission ushered in a new season of recreation baseball at City Pond Park, treating players and fans with a full day of baseball action at the park.

The new season kicked off with opening games at 9 a.m., with a full-slate of Training League, Pee Wee, Minor League and Major League contests.

The regular season will continue on Monday and run through May.
