FOOTBALL RANKINGS: Eastside holds at No. 8 in latest Georgia Sportswriters Association poll
Eastside Football

COVINGTON, Ga. -- As far as Eastside and Class AAAA football rankings go, there wasn't a ton of change following the Eagles' 35-7 rout of Alcovy. Eastside continued to hold down the No. 8 spot in the latest Georgia Sportswriters Association Poll, as it heads into a bye week before opening Region 4-AAAA play next at 7 p.m. Thursday at North Clayton (0-3).

In other classifications, Colquitt County ascended from No. 3 to No. 1, dethroning Grayson from the spot its held all season so far. Hillgrove entered for the first time this season, settling into the No. 10 spot, while the top three spots held true in Class AAAAAA from a week ago.

The Newton Rams will get a chance to test itself against Class AAAAA Arabia Mountain Friday night. The Arabia Mountain Rams' (2-1) only loss so far this season was a 34-22 setback to Class AAAAA No. 4 Stockbridge.
