LOCUST GROVE, Ga. — The Eastside Eagles baseball team stayed perfect in Region 4-AAAA play after Monday night’s 8-1 win at Luella.

Eastside junior Parker Daniel picked up the win on the mound after pitching five innings of three-hit ball, surrendering just one run while striking out nine Luella batters, while sophomore Ethan Booth stepped up to finish the last two innings, tossing a pair of strikeouts.

The Eagles (11-1, 3-0 in Region 4-AAAA) were deadlocked in a 1-1 tie after two innings before adding a run in the top of the fourth to go up 2-1. Eastside broke the game open with five combined runs in the fifth and sixth innings, while adding an insurance score in the top of the seventh.

Colby Shivers and Noah Cook both accounted for a pair of RBIs while Aron Cox, Booth and Dayton Green all drove in a run apiece to help the Eagles to their sixth straight win ahead of Wednesday evening’s showdown at Woodward Academy (7-5, 2-0). It’ll be the first of two games with their region rivals that will likely go a long way in deciding the region championship race.

Eastside is 1-5 against Woodward over the last two seasons with its lone win, a 4-2 victory, coming back in April 2017.
