McDONOUGH, Ga. — The Eastside Eagles got help from a trio of pitchers in a 15-0 run-rule win over Henry County in a Thursday night Region 4-AAAA contest that took just three innings.

Dawson Schwartz started the game and picked up the win, but Lawson Beshears and Ethan Booth all pitched in to combine for a two-hit shutout and eight strikeouts in three total innings of work. It was the eighth Eastside shutout of the season as the fourth-ranked Eagles raised their record to 20-2 overall and a perfect 10-0 in Region 4-AAAA.

As expected, the game was never in doubt, as Eastside opened the first inning with 14 of its 15 runs. Sambo Button, Aron Cox, Schwartz and Parker Daniel all tallied doubles in the first inning to get things started. Cox finished with three RBIs while Daniel, Button and Beshears ushered in two runs apiece from the plate.

Eastside racked up 10 hits in all and swept the season series with the Warhawks. It was Eastside’s second 15-0 run-rule win of the week as the Eagles similarly dispatched Luella Wednesday night.

Eastside will trot out sophomore Cade Mitchell onto the mound Friday for a 5:55 p.m. first-pitch against Woodward Academy (14-7, 7-1). The War Eagles have won seven of their last eight games since that 4-1 home loss to Eastside on March 20. Since that game, Woodward’s only setback was a 2-1 defeat in nine innings to Class AAAAAA Alexander (20-4) on April 5.

An Eastside win against Woodward Academy would all but secure a Region 4-AAAA championship.
