For her efforts on the volleyball court, Eastside junior Dejahnae Saintilus has been named the Eastside Player of the Week.
Although she's known more on the court for her dribbling skills than her sets and bumps, Saintilus has made a quick adjustment to the game of volleyball in her first season.
"I love everything (about the game)," she said. "This is my first year playing, so I'm excited about being out on the court."
Eastside coach Michael Gerald said that Saintilus' transition has been a quick one.
"She's progressed tremendously since she started," Gerald said. "She didn't know much coming in, but we've tried to put her in a position where her athleticism can shine. She's run with it so far and is learning very quickly. We expect good things from her."
Against Chestatee Tuesday night, Saintilus recorded four service points and finished with two digs in the Eagles' 2-0 loss to the War Eagles.
Saintilus and the Eagles return to action on Thursday on the road against Apalachee and Gainesville.
