For his efforts on the gridiron last week, Eastside Eagles linebacker/running back Carols Huggins has been named the Eastside Athelte of the Week.
The Eagles defeated the Walnut Grove Warriors 42-14 last Friday, setting up a match-up this week with Stephens County that could determine if the Eagles make it into the postseason.
Huggins ran for a 2-yard touchdown in the win, giving the Eagles a 10-7 advantage in the first half over the Warriors after Eastside successfully completed a 2-point conversion.
Huggins said that for him, the best part about playing football is having the chance to spend time with his teammates.
"It's about working hard and doing everything for your team," Huggins said. "We work hard each week to get better for one another."
Huggins said that he and the rest of the Eagles will be ready this week against the Indians with a playoff spot on the line.
"We're going to come out and play hard. We're going to earn it," he said.
