The Oxford College of Emory University Women's Soccer team enters the 2012 season with a very challenging schedule under third year head coach Gregory Moss-Brown.
The team is looking to improve upon last season, in which it finished 2-9-1 and earned a bid to the NJCAA regional tournament.
The Eagles return seven players with varsity game experience and added three additional sophomores to join the class. Returning players with varsity experience consists of Amy Van-Pelt, Carlie Smith, Haley Leaptrot, Kalysea Loyan, Torrie Howard, Tiffany Bien, and Sara Wetzstein. Lindsay Hurley, Lauren Taylor and Raine Gowan round out the sophomores.
Oxford's incoming recruiting class is very solid.
New freshmen include Ashley Rabl, a goalkeeper from Dix Hills, N.Y.; Taylor Craig, a goalkeeper from Arlington, Texas; Laura Winstone, a defender from Indianapolis; Katherine Couch, a forward from South Bend, Ind.; and Chloe Donegan, a midfielder from Corvallis, Ore. All five will add depth and experience to a team on a quest for a berth to the NJCAA regional tournament.
Coach Moss-Brown is optimistic as the team has gotten off to a 2-1 start, including a 4-1 win over Andrew College on Sunday.
