Collins Hill enters poll; Peachtree Ridge slips

The top three teams in the Georgia High School Associated Press Class AAAAAA football poll, while Peachtree Ridge fell to No. 8 overall after suffering their first defeat of the season.

Collins Hill enters the poll for the first time this season with an unblemished 5-0 mark, while North Cobb dropped out of the poll after one week at the No. 10 position.

North Gwinnett retains the No 1. spot after defeating Duluth 52-21 last Friday on the road. The Bulldogs take on Mill Creek at home this Friday.

McEachern and Colquitt County both earned wins this past Friday, with McEachern defeating Campbell 49-35.Colquitt County downed Tift County 17-14 to move to 5-1 overall last week.

Lovejoy moves into the No. 4 spot overall after staying perfect in the region with a road victory against Rockdale, while Camden County rounded out the top five with a 28-21 home win over Coffee.

Hillgrove and Norcross earned the No. 6 and No. 7 positions in the poll, respectively, while Peachtree Ridge dropped to No. 8. The Lions lost their first game of the season 35-28 on the road against Collins Hill.

With its win, Collins Hill moved into the poll at the No. 9 position, while Valdosta rounded out the top ten. The Wildcats were off this past Friday, but take on former top-10 member Lowndes this week.

Class AAAA
The Class AAAA AP poll remained virtually unchanged from a week ago, with Sandy Creek receiving 18 of 19 possible first place votes to remain No. 1.

Sandy Creek is joined by Carrollton and Griffin in the top-3, with Griffin receiving the other first-place vote.

Region 8 member Monroe Area sits at No. 4 with a perfect 5-0 mark, with Statesboro rounding out the top five at No. 5. The Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes take on Stephens County this Friday on the road.

Mary Persons, Cedartown and Stockbridge held onto the No. 6, No. 7 and No. 8 poll positions, respectively.

All three teams were victorious last week, with Mary Persons defeating Westside 16-13.

Marist and Wayne County rounded out the top-10 at No. 9 and No. 10.
