Storylines to follow
Alcovy went winless in 2014 and it wasn’t pretty. Still, the Tigers lost two seniors who contributed greatly to their success in D’Anthony Bell and Kenyon Kelley.
This year the Tigers have around 20 seniors on what was a young team in experience last year and they have some size on the line, especially with senior Darnell O’Neal anchoring the trenches.
Despite their record, Alcovy’s defense showed promise at times last year and with more experience this year and a strong weight training program the Tigers should be better on that side of the ball this year.
Alcovy doesn’t really pack a punch on offense, however. The Tigers scored more than one touchdown just twice in their 10 games. Senior running back James Bell should help with that side of the ball, as well as the solid crop of backs he’ll share the load with in Christ Stewert and Demetrius Tuggle.
Head coach Kirk Hoffman has turned around abysmal records into playoff seasons before and this year could be no different.
