Tyra Hollingsworth, a senior, bats leadoff for Alcovy. The Lady Tigers advanced to the second round of the playoffs with a lot of help from Hollingsworth. Hollingsworth was the savior twice this week. She had the game-winning hit in both games catapulting Alcovy to a 2-0 sweep over Lee County. - photo by Shakeem Holloway

Tyra Holingsworth and Ciara Bryan (again) have been selected as the athletes of the week for their respective schools Alcovy and Newton. These two players stood out amongst their peers. Eastside played away on Friday and the Eagles’ Athlete of the Week will be named at CovNews.com on Monday.
