Alcovy played well in the Morgan County Tournament, but suffered its third loss of the season, falling 3-0 to Heritage on Saturday.

The loss snapped an eight-game losing streak, dating back to Aug. 28.

The sixth-ranked Tigers opened up the tournament with an 8-0 win over Monroe Area and a 1-0 win over Dodge County on Friday. The Tigers then beat Morgan County 5-1 on Saturday, before running into Heritage and pitcher Kierra Camp.

Camp struck out nine batters, while allowing three hits in the Patriots' win.

Heritage went on to win the tournament, and have now won 20 of its last 21.

Alcovy gave up all three runs in the top of the first inning, and both pitchers cruised along until the fifth inning.

In the fifth, the Tigers threatened by loading the bases with no one out. However, Alcovy then lined to the shortstop to hit into a double play, and the next batter flew out to center field.

Alcovy rebounded from the loss with a 12-0 win over Duluth, and were slated to get back into Region 2-AAAAAA play against 2-0 Luella on Tuesday. However, the game was rained out and rescheduled for Monday at 5 p.m. at Alcovy.

The Tigers have three region games remaining as they try to hold on to the top spot. Alcovy is currently 3-0, a game ahead of Druid Hills, which is 2-0 and the Tigers last region opponent of the season.

Alcovy hosts Ola Wednesday before traveling to Lovejoy, winless in the region, Thursday.
