The Rockdale County Post 77 baseball team had the opportunity to do something this summer that few high school teams ever have the chance to do - repeat.
Repeat as champions they did, demolishing Douglasville 14-3 in the title game of the American Legion Baseball State Championship.
Rockdale County didn't drop a game in the double-elimination tournament, blowing through its compeition on its way to its second consecutive title.
Six players who were a part of the 2012 title returned for the 2013 championship run.
Rockdale County eventually finished third in the Southeast Region, falling to Asheboro, N.C., 17-5.
Rockdale County did, however, win its first-ever region game, defeating Florida in the elimination round and Kentucky to reach the tournament semifinals.
"I knew it was possible because of the core of the guys we had coming back," Rockdale County manager Demarco Hamm said. "The guys were real pumped before the game. They could see another state championship in their grasp."
