Wise Decision

It is not going to be easy in replacing an experienced and respected sheriff like current Sheriff Jeff Wiggington, and for sure newly elected Sherriff Eric Levett will have a busy time in not only filling Wiggington's capable shoes but in trying to enlarge them so that our sheriff's department continues to provide the great service it does for our county.

In our opinion, Levett took a big step in the right direction with his first major decision. His selection of Major Scott Freeman, a 22-year veteran of the Conyers Police Department, as his chief deputy was a wise decision.

Freeman has the training and the street smarts to be a perfect number two man in the sheriff's department.

We salute Levett's selection and we have confidence that he will make other selections in leadership posts as wise as he has made this one.
