Walmart employees' fraud scheme uncovered

A fraudulent refund scheme that spanned two months, involved at least seven employees, and could total more than $50,000 was reported to the Covington Police Department last week by the loss prevention staff at the Walmart on Industrial Boulevard in Covington.

According to reports, the store’s loss prevention manager told officers that two employees suspected of being part of the scheme were being terminated immediately.

He said he had documented the theft of $2,620 by one of those employees and $1,274 by the other.

Officers were told that employees involved in the scheme were taking cash or crediting Walmart store cards.The CPD’s Criminal Investigation Division is continuing an investigation.
