Mrs. Vera "Sid" Kirkland, age 94 of Conyers, died Thursday, September 22, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Kirkland; sons, Richard Kirkland, Thomas Wade Kirkland; daughter, Patricia Ann Kirkland. She is survived by her sons, Raymond Kirkland, Conyers, Herman Kirkland, IL; daughter, Lesia Weakley, Covington; sister, Audrey Kelley, Stone Mountain; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kirkland was a devoted and the oldest living member of Mountain View Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church, 4618 Redan Road, Stone Mountain with Rev. Eric Cranston and Rev. J.B. Reese officiating; interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
