After a sudden illness, Vanessa Moser Mathis of Conyers, GA went to be with her Lord on Monday, November 28, 2011 at Gwinnett Medical Center. She was born on December 31, 1954 in Athens, GA to Jack and Lovella Moser. She was a member of Mount Carmel Christian Church in Stone Mountain, GA and her childhood church was Forest Heights Baptist Church in Athens, GA. Vanessa was the Regional Human Resources Manager for HCR ManorCare. She attended Bob Jones University and Toccoa Falls College.

She is survived by her husband, Jack L. Mathis; her children, Ashley and Brian DeBerry, Jamie and Robby Monk, Beth and Steve Caison, Dawn Mathis, Cricket Mathis, and Wes and Pam Mathis; her grandchildren, Beau and Anna DeBerry, Carson Monk, Whitney, Luke, and Hannah Caison, Jack and Lauren Mathis; her sisters, Jackie Moser, Linda Maynard and her family.

Vanessa was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. Christmas was Vanessa’s most favorite time of year. In this season of giving, she lived to shed joy on others. "In as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these…ye have done it unto me." - Matthew 23:40

Services will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Mount Carmel Christian Church. Visitation will be held at the church from 12-2 p.m., the funeral from 2-3 p.m., followed by a private graveside service for family only at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to The Salvation Army, Southern Headquarters, 1424 North East Expressway, Atlanta, GA 30329 and the Athens Chapter of The Gideons International, P. O. Box 15, Athens, GA 30603-0015, two charitable organizations very special to Vanessa.
