UPDATED: Crash with 1 adult, 3 children injured on I-20 in Rockdale

A single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 20 eastbound in Rockdale Sunday afternoon sent an Augusta man and three children to the hospital with injuries, requiring a medical airlift.

Around 4:35 p.m., a Ford Expedition was traveling eastbound on I-20 near the West Avenue exit when the back tire of the SUV separated. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which overturned.

The driver, 43-year-old Orie Curtis of Augusta, was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center.

Three children were injured in the crash. They were transported by ambulance to Children's Hospital of Atlanta at Egleston.

(Aug. 3, 4:26 p.m.) IN BRIEF: A rollover crash on Interstate 20 eastbound Sunday afternoon resulted in injuries, including to children. A Lifeflight helicopter was called to transport the injured and the children were taken to Children's Hospital of Atlanta at Egleston.

The crash, near the exit to Ga. Hwy 138, brought traffic to a standstill.

The crash was cleared about 6:30 p.m. and traffic began flowing again, according to Conyers police. Georgia State Patrol has taken over investigation of the incident.
