An Oxford woman and a man from Jasper County died on Sunday night after being involved in a head-on collision in Jasper County.

Kati Womack, 21, and Trinity Campbell, 39, were both pronounced dead on the scene of the accident that happened at Henderson Mill Road and County Line Road just before 11:30 p.m.

Tom Bailey with the Madison post of the Georgia State Patrol office said both drivers entered a curb traveling in opposite directions when the two vehicles crashed into one another and caught fire.

He said it appeared Womack drove her Jeep Cherokee out of her lane going toward Ga. Highway 36, tried to get control of her vehicle and then struck Campbell's Buick LeSabre.

Bailey said both families have been contacted and they continue to investigate the accident.
