Melinda Hawkins will receive a $100 check as the winner of Nov. 17 Turkey Hunt for finding the turkey hiding at the Welcome to Rockdale sign on the Access Road next to Interstate 20. Successful contest hunting runs in Hawkins’ family; her father won contests by finding three of seven sets of motorcycle keys hidden throughout Atlanta and, in another contest, a fake $750,000 check hidden at the state Capitol. This week, the Turkey Hunt is taking a break for the holiday but will return next Saturday, Dec. 1.
