Tornado watch under effect in Rockdale until 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Douglas County and southwestern Fulton County until 6:30 p.m.

(Feb. 28, 2:15 p.m.) Rockdale County is under a tornado watch until 8 p.m. this evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Severe storms are expected to come into the area this afternoon and last through the night. A wind advisory has also been issued by the National Weather Service with a west wind between 20 and 25 miles per hour with gusts as high as 30 miles per hour expected.

Rainfall amounts between 1/10 and 1/4 of an inch are predicted, with higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight winds will die down between 10 and 15 miles per hour, with gusts up to 20 miles per hour and the chance of percipitation will go from 90 percent in the afternoon to 80 percent.
