Parades to ice skating to boy choirs, the season is packed with festive events

 It's certainly the most wonderful time of the year.

On Friday, Main Street Conyers hosted the annual Olde Town Holiday Party. Families enjoyed a Secret Santa Workshop, photos with Santa Claus, horse-drawn carriage rides, a ride on Thomas the Train and various booths sponsored by members of the community.

 On Saturday, Dec. 4, Conyers and Rockdale  County will host the Hometown Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting, starting at 4:30 p.m. through Olde Town and the historic district of Conyers.

Other activities this weekend include:

Dec. 4, Breakfast with Santa
 “Breakfast with Santa” will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4, in the fellowship hall of Conyers First United Methodist Church in Olde Town. Sponsored by UMC’s Missions Committee and Methodist Men, the event will feature an 8:30 a.m. seating and a 10 a.m. second seating. The cost is $6 per person or $20 for a family of four, and all proceeds will benefit United Way supported homeless initiatives in Rockdale.

Dec. 4, Living Nativity
 Covington First United Methodist, 1113 Conyers St., will host a Children’s Walk to Bethlehem and Living Nativity on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 6 p.m. Hot chocolate and treats served. For information, call (770) 786-4026.

Dec. 5, Conyers Pilot Club Holiday Tour of Homes
 Tour five homes in Olde Town Historic District on Sunday, Dec. 5 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $12. For information or tickets, call (770) 602-2606.

Dec. 7, Christmas Concerts
 Conyers First United Methodist Church, 921 Main St., will host a Sing A Christmas Carol featuring over 140 singers at 6 p.m. Dec. 5 and 7 p.m. Dec. 6. For information, call (770) 483-4236.

Dec. 9, Holiday Networking & Ugly Sweater Contest
  Stone Mountain Harley-Davidson will host a holiday networking event on Thursday, Dec. 9, which will feature an ugly sweater contest, raffles, food and drink, and a chance to peruse the wide selection of motorcycles and Harley-Davidson merchandise available in the showroom of the dealership at 900 Dogwood Drive. This United Way event, which is in its second year, will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. For more information on both events, call (678) 623-2857.

Dec. 11, Reindeer 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk
 Beginning at 8 a.m. at Conyers First United Methodist Church, 921 N. Main St. Entry is $25 individual and $75 for family of four or more.  Checks accepted through December 10th. Dec. 11, Atlanta Boy Choir Christmas Concert
 Come hear the angelic sounds of the Atlanta Boy Choir combined with the tranquil environment of the Monastery of the Holy Spirit. The 30th annual concert will be at the Monastery, and will be at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children. Tickets on line at www.trappist.net or in Abbey Gift Shop. Dec. 11, Amayz Release Party
 Amayz Gospel Choir will hold a winter fest and release party at 6 p.m. on Dec. 11 at Providence Church, International, 2140 Salem Road, (Old lPike’s Nursery). Admission is free. Album sales and signing. For information, call (770) 896-8255.

Dec. 25, Christmas Dinner
 The Royal Cathedral of Praise, 993 O’Kelly St, will hod a free Christmas dinner from noon to 4 p.m. with toys for the children. Volunteers are needed. Call (770) 922-0449.
